Title: Shrewsbury flood defences : the next steps
Author: Environment Agency Midlands Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
This leaflet analyses the Shrewsbury flood defences. Shrewsbury is cradled within a picturesque horseshoe loop of the River Severn. Over centuries, the river has helped to build the town's character and its prosperity. However, it also brings the damaging threat of flooding. This document contains sections on: the situation in Shrewsbury; Rea Brook diversion; the proposed changes to the rules; Sewer flooding in Abbey Foregate; how flood defences are financed; the economics of flood defences; Frankwell Flood alleviation works; and defences for Shrewsbury after Frankwell.
