Abstract:
This report gives information about Bathing waters of Wales in 1998. The 68 bathing waters reported for Wales in 1998 which are currently identified by the UK Government as falling within the scope of the Directive are displayed on Figure 1 and listed in Appendix 2. This also shows West Kirby, which is under Environment Agency Wales operational control but lies outside Wales. The Government requires that these bathing waters are monitored in accordance with the requirements of the Bathing Waters Directive and the data is reported to the Welsh Office (WO) and the Department of Transport, Environment and the regions (DETR) during October of each year. This report summarises the results of the monitoring carried out during the 1998 bathing season.
