Title: Saving water : on the right track : a summary of current water conservation initiatives in the UK January 1998
Author: Environment Agency
Document Type: Monograph
This report has been issued following a review by the Environment Agency of current initiatives in the area of water conservation and demand management in the UK. OFWATs 1996/97 Report on Leakage and Water Efficiency published in October 1997, listed a number of water company ideas in relation to the promotion of water efficiency. This report elaborates on some of those ideas by the presentation of greater detail, but also includes many worthwhile water saving initiatives from other organisations not directly connected to the water industry. Many such schemes have been implemented only recently, and many have not yet reached the point at which savings and costs of savings can be evaluated. This review should accordingly be treated as a preliminary one, defining the range of what is being done, with the intention of being extended and updated in due course as more and better data emerge.
