Abstract:
The overall project objective of this report is to validate for the NRA the development and performance of a field test kit for microcystin-LR (MC-LR) to be developed by Biocode Ltd, and to develop field procedures for its use by NRA staff. This document describes work carried out by the NRA in three principle areas: purification and supply of cyanobacterial peptide toxins to Biocode Ltd.; development of lysis procedures for the convenient release of cyanobacterial microcystins from cells, necessary for application to antibody-based test procedures; assessment of anti-microcystin-LR IpM antibodies produced bv Biocode Ltd.
