Abstract:
This report presents the results of the EC Dangerous Substances monitoring programme undertaken during 1990. Publication of the results has been delayed this year as the system of reporting required by DoE was revised to a computerised format. Relatively few of the List I and II substances contained in the EC Dangerous Substances Directive are known to be discharged to waters in the South West Region and monitoring is limited to heavy metals and a few organic pesticides. Assessment of compliance with Environmental Quality Standards ( EQS) was carried out for the first time, using a compliance testing computer program.
