Title: River Tamar : catchment action plan (not Tavy and Lynher)
Author: National Rivers Authority South West Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The River Tamar is one of the premier salmon rivers with good runs of spring and summer salmon. It has four major tributaries the Rivers Lyd, Inny, Kensey and Ottery. The Roadford Dam is on the River Wolf, a tributary of the Lyd, and as part of the mitigation programme for loss of production, salmon and sea trout are trapped, ova obtained and 30,000 juveniles are reared at Endsleigh and are annually stocked into the system. Fifteen miles of the Upper Tamar have been adversely affected by farm pollution and abstractions resulting in poor salmonid production and deterioration of spawning gravels.
