Title: Planning application for the proposed Maidenhead, Windsor and Eton flood alleviation scheme January 1991
Author: National Rivers Authority
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The towns of Maidenhead, Windsor and Eton and nearby villages have a very long history of flooding from the River Thames. The threat still exists and as 1990 so powerfully showed, it could happen again. Over the past six years, the NRA and its predecessor bodies have been working on a scheme to protect Maidenhead, Windsor and Eton from flooding disaster. An extensive consultation exercise took place with the relevant planning authorities. A wide range of alternative methods of alleviating flooding in Maidenhead was evaluated by the consultants, taking into account both engineering and environmental factors.
