Abstract:
This report is one of a series of reports which have been prepared to cover each region of the National Rivers Authority. The first section of the report contains comments on a number of flood defence schemes, which were selected by Regional Staff. The comments and the subsequent recommendations are made with the intention of reducing or limiting the risk of failure of the scheme, or of NRA procedures. The second section of the report describes the development of a standard methodology for "risk assessment". The report contains reference to how a "rapid assessment methodology" could be developed further, and suggests uses to which it could be put.
