Abstract:
Over the years the National Rivers Authority (NRA), have granted approval for work to be carried out in and near water courses. Some of these works have had a conservation interest. It is these that were to be followed up. The purpose of which was to see wether the work had been carried out in accordance with the Land Drainage Consent (LDC) form. These are issued after applying to the NRA before work can commence and are valid for 3 years. The brief for this project is to investigate whether the conservation elements of "Land Drainage Consent" have been carried out as stated on the consent given by the NRA. The period covered by this report ranges from the beginning of 1990 through to a suitable cut off in 1993 (or earlier if applicable). 40 sites were chosen from the northern area, this gaves a broad cross section of the types of river work, which have a Conservation interest.
