Abstract:
This marine monitoring workplan has been compiled following a request from Dr. Bond borne out of the market testing process. The workplan is based on original returns from each region and national centre requirements. It is split into a number of basic categories. For each region, the type of work and duration are listed. Work category is given as Statutory, Surveillance or Permissive based on the business needs outlined in the National Marine Monitoring Strategy. Added to this is the boat type used for the work. There has been a certain degree of regional interpretation within the returns, we have worked hard to rationalize these differences. The outstanding differences are mainly confined to boat types. The workplan is by no means complete, for example small boat surveys tend to be specified on a shorter time scale and therefore could not be included in full detail. It can also be seen that the full implications of the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive have not reached the survey stage in some regions. The data has been presented in three different ways to help with the evaluation.
