The South West Lakes CFMP covers an area of 900km2 and contains a number of small, rural, flashy sub-catchments. Approximately 97% of the catchment is rural with larger urban settlements found along the coast, at Barrow and Whitehaven. The catchment is amongst the wettest and steepest in England and Wales.
