Oakham is the county town of Rutland, East Midlands, England. A 28 miles (45.1 km) south-east drive down the A606 from Nottingham, 25 miles (40.2 km) drive east from Leicester, 23 miles (37.0 km) drive west from Peterborough, Oakham has a total resident population of 9,975. It has a variety of shops and a museum. Oakham, which has civil parish status, lies to the west of Rutland Water, one of the largest man-made lakes in Europe. (Wikipedia)
