FBA Oral History Project

Clear Waters Oral History Project
The FBA launched the Clear Waters oral history project, funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund, in April 2013. The project has recorded memories of people local to the Lake District and the changes they have seen in the water bodies during the last 50-60 years.

The project interviewed four groups of people: anglers and sport fishermen, local people involved in lake recreation, long term residents with an interest in wildlife or recreation, and former employees and members of the Freshwater Biological Association (FBA). An exhibition featuring excerpts of these interviews is currently touring Cumbria and Lancaster. For a full list of dates and venues, along with more information on the project, please see the Clear Waters website: www.clearwaters.org.uk

The FBA collaborated with a number of local partner organisations, such as Cumbria Wildlife Trust, the University of Cumbria and Ambleside Oral History Group. If you would like further information, please contact Collections Manager, Tamsin Vicary by email; tvicary@fba.org.uk or ring 01539 487717.
