Free NERC funded places for Freshwater Advanced Training Short Course

Supported by NERC, the Freshwater Biological Association and Bournemouth University are offering an Advanced Training Short Course in Freshwater Taxonomy and Field Identification Skills. This five day course will be run at the FBA River Laboratory in Dorset 27 June - 1 July 2016. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis (priority will be given to those with NERC funding). Registration will open on 29 April and further details will be added shortly.

Freshwater Invertebrate Sampling

Book your place now on the FBA's next training course: 'Sampling and identifying freshwater invertebrates' taking place from Tuesday 15 - Wednesday 16 March 2016 at our Windermere site near Ambleside, Cumbria. Participants will learn how to collect and identify aquatic invertebrates from running water habitats, and take part in sampling, bankside sorting in the field and lab-based identification.

Mapping Fisheries workshop, 1-2 March, Edinburgh

Scottish Fisheries Coordination Centre (SFCC) and Institute of Fisheries Management (IFM) are running a joint mapping environmental management workshop from 1-2 March 2016 to share new mapping approaches and their application to fisheries management. The aim is also to share recent advances in data availability and showcase the online mapping technology available to fisheries/rivers Trusts through their existing non-profit programme subscriptions.
