Title: River habitats in England and Wales : a national overview : river habitat survey report no 1
Author: National Rivers Authority Thames Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
The purpose of this report is to provide a preliminary and illustrative overview of river habitat features resulting from the first two years of a national 3-year survey of rivers and streams in England and Wales. It provides, for the first time, a nationally representative picture of the state of river habitats. It is aimed primarily at National Rivers Authority staff and external organisations which have taken part in the River Habitat Survey (RHS), development of which has generated the field and map-based data used in this report. However, the results will also be of use to all those with an interest in rivers generally. Although the data input has been validated, the results should be treated as provisional and reference to them must be taken in this context.
