Title: River Teme Local Environment Agency Plan : first annual review
Author: Environment Agency Midlands Region
Document Type: Monograph
Abstract:
This Annual Review summarises the progress made in achieving targets to improve the water environment in the Teme Catchment in the year since publication of the Action Plan (March 1996). Generally good progress has been made by responsible parties in carrying out the actions planned for this year including a number of collaborative actions. Of the 56 actions planned for this year (including ongoing actions) 3 have been completed with the remainder in progress. Three actions not originally scheduled for this review year were brought forward with one of these being completed. One outstanding action, where no specific project was undertaken in the catchment, has been deferred to next year. Of particular note is the improvement in water quality in the Dumbleton Brook and the successful farm inspections programme carried out in the River Kemp area, where farm waste problems were identified and solutions sought. The pesticide sampling programme carried out on the River Teme to date, has also yielded some valuable information. The River Teme has been formally notified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The low flow gauging carried out on the River Teme upstream of Leintwardine, provided useful background information. This will be used for further investigations into the reasons for the river drying up in this area.
