Definition (http://ccmhub.net/the-catchment-approach/what-is-a-catchment/)

A hydrological catchment is defined as the area of land from which all surface water run-off flows into a single point (usually the sea). Hydrological catchments can vary widely in size and other characteristics such as height above sea level, slope, geology and land use, and may contain different combinations of freshwater bodies (surface water and groundwater) and coastal waters.
